What the Regulator / Rectifier Does
The regulator/rectifier converts the alternator's AC output to DC for the motorcycle or ATV electrical system and controls charging voltage to the battery. A failed unit can contribute to a flat or overcharged battery, unstable charging voltage, blown bulbs, difficult starting or heat-damaged charging connectors.
Before Fitting
- Compare both connectors, pin count, body shape and mounting-hole spacing with the original unit.
- Check the stator AC output before replacing the regulator/rectifier.
- Inspect the stator and regulator connectors for burning, corrosion or melted terminals.
- Repair damaged wiring and poor earth/ground connections before installing the replacement.
- Confirm the battery is serviceable; a failed battery or stator can damage a replacement regulator.
